ASEAN Cybersecurity Skilling Programme — Empowerment Session Introduction

On 23 May 2023, AgilenLite conducted the ASEAN Cybersecurity Skilling Programme — Empowerment Session Introduction for students of Fuchun Secondary School, equipping them with essential knowledge to stay safe in today's digital world.

Raising Cyber Awareness Among Youth

As students increasingly rely on digital platforms for learning, communication, and entertainment, cybersecurity awareness has become a critical life skill. The session introduced students to the fundamentals of cybersecurity, helping them understand how online actions and digital footprints can impact personal safety.

Key topics covered included:

• What cybersecurity means and why it matters
• Common online scams and how they operate
• The lifecycle of a scam
• Practical safeguards against cyber threats
• Introduction to cybersecurity roles and careers

The programme combined real-world examples with interactive learning activities to make cybersecurity concepts relevant and easy to understand.

Learning to Recognise and Prevent Scams

Students explored how scammers exploit human emotions such as fear, curiosity, and trust. Through guided discussions, they learned practical steps to protect themselves online, including verifying information through independent sources and practising safe online behaviour.

The session emphasised three key principles: Enhance cyber awareness, practise good cyber hygiene, and build cyber resilience.
